About Water Me

Upon arrival to Ghana from the US , she traveled 12 hours away from the city center of Accra to the northern region of Bolgatanga , Ghana with the team where she learned very quickly that even getting there was an incredible feat due to road systems and politics.During the filming of the documentary she was able to interview the women of the community which informed her of their needs. In the background she witnessed kindergarten age children walking barefoot on dusty paths to fetch water with buckets on top of their heads. She was informed of the pumping water system they had to walk to to have water in their homes. Once filming ended she was able to host her painting class which was supported financially by her friends and family abroad in the US. The kids in the village never held a paint brush , paint or canvas before this day. After a brief explanation of how to mix colors and clean brushes to change colors the kids eagerly took off into their imaginations. She saw the passion for art was there but the lack of supplies and opportunity was ever present. A parent of 3 kids herself, she couldn't help but notice how much children in the states take running water in their homes or the activities that are accessible to them for granted. She decided there that she would start an initiative that would enrich both the people in the village but also their diaspora abroad in the states.
